Ingredients
Scale
1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine, chilled
1 cup white rum
1/2 cup orange liqueur (like Triple Sec or Cointreau)
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup simple syrup
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, lightly crushed
1 cup club soda or sparkling water, chilled (optional, for topping)
Ice for serving
Instructions
In a large pitcher, combine the chilled white wine, white rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup. Stir well to mix the liquids.
Add the sliced strawberries and crushed mint leaves to the pitcher. Gently stir them into the wine mixture.
Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 4 hours, to allow the fruit flavors to infuse the wine. This step is key for big batch flavor.
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the sangria mixture into the glasses, making sure each serving gets some fruit and mint.
If desired, top each glass with a splash of chilled club soda for extra fizz. Serve immediately.
Notes
To make simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves, then cool completely before using.
Crush the mint leaves lightly with the back of a spoon or muddler to release the oils without tearing them too much.
This recipe makes a great Memorial Day drink or summer sangria option.
