Create a luxurious, no-cook breakfast featuring silky Nova lox, tangy chive cream cheese, capers, and red onion on a perfectly toasted bagel. This assembly delivers effortless luxury for a special weekend treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 bagels (plain or everything)
  • 4 ounces Nova lox smoked salmon
  • 4 tablespoons chive cream cheese (or plain cream cheese mixed with fresh chopped chives)
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained
  • 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice your bagels in half horizontally.
  2. Toast the bagel halves until they are golden brown and slightly crisp.
  3. Spread a generous layer of chive cream cheese evenly over the cut side of each bagel half.
  4. Arrange the Nova lox smoked salmon artfully over the cream cheese layer on each half.
  5. Sprinkle the drained capers evenly over the salmon.
  6. Top with thin slices of red onion.
  7. Garnish with fresh chopped dill, if using, and a light grind of black pepper.
  8. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture contrast.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality, cold-smoked salmon, often called Nova lox.
  • If you do not have chive cream cheese, mix 4 ounces of full-fat cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh chives.
  • Thinly slicing the red onion is key; use a mandoline if you have one for uniform, delicate pieces.
