Make this quick, glossy honey garlic butter shrimp for an impressive dinner that cooks in just 15 minutes. It is a perfect, flavorful protein dish for any special weeknight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until they start to turn pink.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice. If you like heat, stir in the red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the shrimp. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, tossing constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the shrimp evenly, creating a glossy glaze.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For the best glaze, do not overcrowd the pan; cook the shrimp in batches if necessary.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed asparagus or simple white rice.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the brightest flavor in your sauce.
