Make your grill game memorable with these juicy grilled pork chops coated in a unique, homemade blackberry BBQ sauce. This recipe delivers big flavor with simple steps.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blackberry BBQ sauce: Combine blackberries, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and garlic powder in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blackberries break down.
  3. Press the blackberries through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the seeds and pulp. Set the smooth sauce aside.
  4. Prepare the pork chops: Rub both sides of the pork chops with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  6. Grill the pork chops for 4 to 6 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush the blackberry BBQ sauce generously over both sides of the chops. Allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
  8. Remove the chops from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving with extra sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For an extra layer of flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder to the sauce mixture.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, let the sauce simmer uncovered for an extra 5 minutes.
  • This fruit glazed meat pairs well with a simple green salad or grilled corn.
