Ingredients
Scale
1 head green cabbage
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon lime zest
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 cup diced red onion
1 avocado, sliced (optional topping)
Instructions
Prepare the cabbage: Carefully remove 8 to 10 large, whole outer leaves from the cabbage head. If the center rib is thick, use a paring knife to carefully shave it down slightly so the leaf can fold easily.
Season the shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
Cook the shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove from heat.
Make the lime dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the fresh lime juice and lime zest.
Assemble the wraps: Place the cooked shrimp into a bowl. Pour the lime dressing over the shrimp and toss gently to coat. Add the chopped cilantro and red onion, mixing well.
Fill the wraps: Spoon the shrimp mixture evenly into the center of each cabbage leaf.
Serve immediately. Top with sliced avocado if desired.
Notes
To soften the cabbage leaves for easier rolling, you can briefly dip them in boiling water for 15 seconds, then immediately place them in ice water. Pat dry before filling.
For extra crunch, add shredded carrots or thinly sliced radishes to the shrimp filling.
