Ingredients
Scale
1 (16 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
1 cup refried beans
1 cup salsa
1/2 cup black olives, sliced
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
Instructions
In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning until smooth. This is your white layer.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom of a rectangular serving platter or 9×13 inch dish.
In a separate small bowl, mix the refried beans with 1/4 cup of the salsa. Spread this mixture over the cream cheese layer. This is your brown layer.
Spread the remaining 3/4 cup of salsa over the bean layer. This is your red layer.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the entire dip, leaving the top left corner clear for the blue field.
Arrange the sliced black olives in the top left corner of the dip to represent the blue field of stars.
Use the diced tomatoes to create vertical red stripes over the rest of the dip surface.
Chill the patriotic appetizers for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a sharper contrast, use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream in the cream cheese layer.
You can use guacamole as the green layer if you prefer a different flavor profile.
Serve this layered dip with tortilla chips or sturdy crackers.
