A delicious summer dessert featuring tart sour cherries topped with a buttery oat crumble. Perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sour cherries (pitted)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (cubed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix cherries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Pour into a baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle topping evenly over cherries.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen sour cherries.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
